I am the PI of the ABC Neuro Lab, which includes near-infrared spectroscopy brain imaging equipment (fNIRS, Artinis), Tobii Glasses, a high-resolution eye tracker (Tobii Spectrum, 1200 Hz), and a TMS machine, acquired through a JELF-CFI grant in 2019 (C. Gonzalez as PI). Students in the ABC Neuro Lab learn a wide variety of techniques that are not only used for research purposes but are also becoming mainstream for clinical (e.g., aiding assessments and diagnosis) and industrial (e.g., neuromarketing) purposes. More recently, the lab has moved toward designing intervention studies that explore the effects of non invasive brain stimulation, rTMS and iTBS, on cognitive aging. In addition, students gain experience with cognitive testing, including standardized cognitive assessments used in healthcare settings, such as the MoCA, RBANS, and CVLT. Students often implement these measures in their own research projects.
